REEVES TRACK MAINTENANCE 19- 21 August, The party arrived at Walls Whare about 11.00pm, Friday night after an uneventful trip. The driver upon our invitation spent the night with us and in return for our hospitality loaned us a portable radio for the week end, Saturday morning dawned ( as Saturday mornings do) and after a good breakfast the driver left for the Martinborough Races and the Workers left for the track ( Reeves Track I mean), Apart from the cutting back of fern and manuka on the lower slopes there was surprisingly little to do. The track in the bush was well defined with no windfalls, About half way up the main party turned back and came upon Bob Williams who had come up by car that morning. He and one or two fit ? trackers went on to the top and upon their return reported that the track right up to the top of Reeves was clear and plainly mai rked. The aftemoon was spent gathering firewood - partaking of lunch and the odd jobs. After tea was the usual"Trampers Own H - nattering and playing "500" until bedtime. Sunday was a day of rest Iapart from big game Hunter Leon bagging some fresh meat) and all too soon the truck arrived for the return trip. Party: John Armstrong (Leader) Ellen Slattery, Eileen Johnson, Kath Palmer, Dudley Morris, Phil Barton, Noel Miller, Neill Sandford, Tom Meyer, Leon Sondej, Bob Williams, Ian Clarke, Lew Lewis and Graham Blatkley, John -
