WOT! NO RATS! Me.Holdeworth Working Party It was March and upon a Friday night that the party. set off for a Rat Hunt and gleefully?? Cleaning up Rubbish expedition in and around Mt."ouse. eports had reached the committee that Mt.House was completely over run by rodents so, we must needs do something about ito Upon arrival at Bannister about 12 of us decided to go on up to Mt,House whilst Bernie and 4 companions chose to stay at the bottom that night. Two hours later and we were all in the dack and believe it or not not a rat disturbed our slumbers. In fact they were conspicious by their absence the whole week end. However Paturday morning dawned, as Saturdays do and all hands were rallied for the clearing up and out of all the old tins, bottles and other rubbish which might have added encouragement to the pests. A large hole was dug at the bottom of the slope where the debris was buried and the bank was left spotless. Attention was then turned.to the drains which were redug and cleaned out and the guttering bordering, the porch was resoldered ( some bright spark having pulled it down at some time). Saturday night we treated ourselves to a monstrous campfire and sing song and vied with onch other for parking lots l however eventual lly all were satisfied and peace reigned onee more. On Sunday we cleaned out the inside of the Hut and then departed for Bannister and back to the city. : Trev W. : o - :
