: : Ten people went down.. on the club trip: to this Rànge. Warren, emulating Mario Andretti or someone, got us down' to the road end in quick time on Friday night. Incidentally, it took about as long as it takes to get to the Inland Kaikouras. Next day wasn't very long and most of us were in our pits by midday as it was miserably cold and snowing steadily. The following day was fine and we made good time to Manakau, despite having snow all the way from our base camp at 2400 ft. .6 hours to the:top, about 3% back. Beaut views, excellent crampon conditions, everybody" going like a bomb, a good dày. The following was as bad as the first so we left early. Thanks Paul Aubrey for a good trip. Companions were Tony Gazley, Jeff Connell, Dave Wills, Dave Cook, Dan Wilson, Warren Thorburn, Trevor Bissell, Bruce McKinlay, and Paul Richardson.
