Easter in the Abel Tasman National Park for the Easy Trip consisted of six breathless sun filled days; lazy days cn beaches and around camp-fires which were interspersed with
the occasional tramp and for some, a little light romance: : We camped the first night in the wee small hours at the Marahau car-park. Thé absence of drinking wator meant a : walk for breakfast tod Tinline Bay where we stayed for the AN dày and the night. With fine: weather next day werpacked up and moved on slowly to Torrent Bay taking muchiBcnger than the normal four hours. We quickly realised.tiabr: Totaranui was but a dream as the two young girls in. ouE party did their best, but little people have little-legs ESou and therefore great difficulty when it comes to walling up even the gentle hills of Abel Tasman. And. so we spent i-r i three nights in Torrent Bay: assailed by "Whakapek" birds (mysterious flightless birds which climb trees. and, otesks sleeping bags etc!) and wekas which were partial to and : corfee grounds: Tararua' biscuits! h : : : We filled in. the following sunny days with day walko fron Li 1 Torrent Bay to. Bark Bayx Cascade Falls. and to clecpatrats 1 Pool. The high point of the trip for me was our finalnight's camp at a small bay, near Observation Point which : our intrepid leader Chris discovered. Grassy tenti sites faced east overlooking the beach and from-our sleeping bags we witnessed silvery moonlight on the. shimmering. seen followed by a dawn. of bold bright colours of red and gold - and the paler colours of pink and blue. Even if that were not enough, we were surrounded by brightly lit glow worm3 in the marine grottos and phosphoresence quivering.in the lapping waves. Added to these splendours were blue penguins (at least 3 of them),"gold" discovered by Cindy S and Simon', a roaring camp fire and convivial company. Yon SRA can see: - why I can call this an "enchanted bay"!: t The people on the trip were: Chris Garton (a real trip leader), Christine Roberts: Aloma Hornby, Elizabeth Williams, Craigie Griffitha, John Morgan, Colin Harris, Ann Ross, Murray Worsop (scritb). Cindy Hazelwood, Dave & Olivia Stonyer, Claire & Katy. Stonyer and. Simon Hornby. : Thanks Chris for your patience and for a great, holiday,
