Neither can we, but we, and nany others fron kindred clubs did. Here are briefly the factso.. Vith Valla Hobbs as leader we left Pollington Friday night and in due course reached the Otaki Forks Cottage rhere we camped for the night. On Saturday while Tararua and Hutt Vallcy members carried tne cross up we combined with other clubs to carry shingle from the river, 400 pounds being our allocation. Our girls went on to Fields and contrary to that written elsewhere: (not in our Journal), prepared billies of tea etco, and gave cigerettes toall workers. From Fields to Kime conditions rere severe and our loads were telling, conse equently, and, I think, justifiably, most of our nonbers by then had had enough and returned. Tom, Snow,myself and Titch vno went to Kime Friday night, then moved on to Hector and dumped our loads rith relief and cranp on topo Thence back to Kime and Fields in a hurry - and I mean hurry. A welcome brew from the girls who did a great job, and later back to the Cottage together. Sunday te did nothing and enjoyed it while it snowed on the tops and in the afternoon ve returned to Wellington by truck. On behalf of the leader I would like to thank all for their co-operation and efforts on this trip and let's hope the cross will weather many a worse storn than that which WO experienced while helping to build ito I have not boen given a list of members on this trip, but after all does that really netter?
