BRILLIANT BROKEN RIVER 1991 Eric Evans Snow, snow and more snow we had eight out of ten A good set of punters plus excellent skiing conditions days skiing. The snow was in pristine condition. Every made this week at Broken River most enjoyable. Looking day was different moguls earlier in the week, fresh forward to next year. Those on the trip were: Byron (photographer) Anderson, At Meadow Park on Friday the troops packed into the van Daimon (Mr Bean) Harris, Mark (Fireman) Chapman, to pick up liquid supplies for the week. Unfortunately the Eric (Bomber) Evans, Andy (Slalom) Gale, Alison supplies took up more room than the people. After a good laugh at their misfortune, we managed to pass the moving house (strange things happen on the mainland), we then moved right along up to Porters. We had an excellent days skiing with good snow cover with a noticeable lack of rocks. That night saw us around a roaring fire inside the lodge at snow covered Flock Hill talking about old times. Sunday we were off at the crack of dawn (yes dawn arrived) up to Broken River field. Brian's manoeuvring of the rental van through the knee high snow along the access road was impressive to say the least. We had Lyndon Lodge to ourselves SO there was plenty of room to stretch out. The skiing was excellent and surviving the daily lessons without making a fool of yourself was a challenge. Evenings were spent relaxing, talking or sweating it out in the sauna. A surprise visit by Clarke Halverson and family (including 8 month old Toby) and friends for the second half of the week was well received. The week was finished off in style by a cocktail party complements of the Broken River Club.
