Gandalf and 10 Hobbits go looking for stars in the Land of Mordor Over beyond the Range of Everlasting Mud and Miser,y on the plains of Rohan, is an area of Middle Earth where the stars shine brightly (especially brightly following the demise of the Hobbits grovel at Mtn House).
Friday night was spent with Gandalf and the 10 hobbits gazing through the telescopes of the Phoenix Astronomical Society at the moon, mars, and several star formations. Theories about the evolution of space and the universe were also discussed, but Gandalf, as usual, had his own theories (that seem to be derived from On Saturday morning we awoke to a clear brilliant day in Middle Earth. Great views of the Range of Everlasting Mud and Misery were revealed. Gandalf, while dinning on reheated fish and chips from the previous night, continued to share his words of ‘wisdom’ about the demise of Mountain House and reprimanded the hobbits about their lack of foresight in the preservation of ‘historic’ hobbit holes (or run down rubbish heaps) in the Range of Everlasting Mud and Misery.
The hobbits and Gandalf headed south towards Mordor, the land where yuppies from the City of Civil Servants take their weekend retreats while sipping fine wine and eating fine food. Gandalf rode his trusty ‘Cash Converters Special 2001’ that developed a fault as he broke a couple of spokes. What caused this fault we do not know – could it possibly be due to the effects of eating too many fish and chips that morning or was it from eating all the left over food from the hobbits the previous night?
Upon reaching the weekend–retreat-of-yuppiesand-civil-servants-in-search-of-fine-food-and-wine, the hobbits had developed quite an appetite and thirst. Fresh bread, cheeses, grapes, and a bottle of wine were soon procured from the local hobbit suppliers. Gandalf however, could not eat such hobbit foods and instead chewed on his sandwiches that he had made in the City of Civil Servants. (Luckily nobody was having fish and chips otherwise Gandalf may have scrounged these and his ‘Cash Converters special’ may have had even more difficulties in cycling back to the hobbit’s bus in the afternoon).
The hobbits, after lunch, decided to visit some of the local establishments that offer beverages to yuppies from the City of Civil Servants. Gandalf meanwhile spent his time sitting under a tree in the central square of Mordor.
Since some hobbits were rather tired after their opulent lunch, Gandalf and one hobbit went to recover the bus. However, the bus got bogged down in a paddock near the Hobbit’s stargazing area. There are a number of theories as to why this Tramping & Mountaineering 2003 Wayne Stevens some statistical publication).
happened. Maybe it was due to an Orc attack, but more likely being due to Gandalf being on the bus after eating too many fish and chips.
Following the extraction of the bus from the bogs of Rohan the hobbits were collected and returned safely to the City of Civil Servants. Gandalf meanwhile was still going on about Mountain House…….
