T.A.C. REUNION and Twenty-Fifty Anniversary. Zero night was Friday 23rd.July and one truck, plus four car loads(about 40 of us). made tracks for Egmont. The four car loads, after meeting each other at every Cafe and piecart en route, arrived at North Egmont Old House about 1 a.m. to find a very welcome cup of tea awaiting us. The place has undergone big changes since last year, the hostel and 01d House both newly decorated and new lessees in charge, Mr. & Mrs.Walker and Miss Dixon. The truck arrived on Saturday morning to find us all still in bed. The weather was cloudy and windy so the would be climbers abandoned ideas of making the top of Egmont ( if they ever had any ofcourse). Later the weather cleared and zost bods managed to stagger short distances up the track to get some exercise and hoping to see the top of Egnont appsaring through the clouds. The day was spent in various ways, then the rush for mirrors and bathroons began and by 7.0 p.m. all trampers had disappeared with partygoers appearing in their places. The T.A.C. had certainly put in some hard work and planning as I should imagine that about 200 people sat down to dinner. The after dinner speeches went on and on for nearly three hours with the "Tongue and Meats" being paid the compliment, by the Toastmaster, of being the most important visiting club. Bos made a very good and short (most important at this stage) reply. At last the dancing began with a ball like atmosphcre pre evailing. The non dancers gradually disappenred fro the floor with finally the ajority of the W.T.M.C. gathering at the cottage dressed once ore in slacks and swsaters (we at least recognised each other again). The party carricd on until the early hours of the worning and I think nost folk would need to write their own stories and recollecti ns here. Sunday was a beautiful day but I think after the previous night's olcbrations Dave and Alice were the only ones to attempt any cli bing. After lunch we set off for home again, planning our visit to next year's T.A.C. Reunion. Congratulations and best wishes : T.A.C. Johnny J.
