Ascent Holdsworth July 20-22

After a Fridey over-night at the end of the road, the 13 trippers under Don O'Brien's guiding hands set off ona "fine Saturday morn for Mountain House (lunch stop), and in the afternoon, an hour on top. Conditions were fantastic and Sean Wakely spoke to Masterton locals via his CB set. The group spent Saturday night at Mountain House wherea lively discussion followed between several members. On Sunday in cloudy conditions the O'Brien trippers dived down the River Track to the Atiwhakatu and home. The "fit" squad under Howard Biggs completec their Roldsworth-Angle Knob trip with ease and romped along the McGregor ridge for an extra looksee under the perfect Saturcay conditions. There was very little snow on the tops. The weather was so good, in fact, that our Medium trip was almost crowded. off the Hollsworth track on the: Saturday.. Don says at least 30 day-trippers climbed Mount Holdsworth; creating traffic problems.
